Chapter 9: Sorry, I'm Married | Seven Years into Marriage, I Cheated

Chapter 9: Sorry, I’m Married

Gu Shisheng hadn’t eaten such childish food in a long time, but it was genuinely sweet, both sour and sweet, flooding his brain. He didn’t know how to speak for a moment.

“Did you put the flowers there?”

Gu Shisheng didn’t keep flowers because he wasn’t good at it; the flowers he kept tended to die quickly, and when they did, Gu Shisheng would blame himself.

“Yes.” Jiang Chaoxi nodded, then looked at Gu Shisheng’s expression. “Would Brother Gu dislike it? I just think it looks good, and Brother Gu will be happy to see it. If you don’t like it, I…”

“No, I quite like it. I’m just not good at taking care of flowers.” Gu Shisheng explained, feeling the good intentions from the other person. How could he bear to make the other person sad?

“That’s easy. The flowers will be kept here with Brother Gu. I’ll take care of watering, fertilizing, and later cultivation.” Then they could see each other every day, and over time, feelings would develop.

Gu Shisheng had always been introverted and steady, but facing someone as young and energetic as Jiang Chaoxi, he couldn’t help but feel a bit more lively.

Because the new artwork was almost finished, Gu Shisheng spent every day in the gallery. Sometimes, he didn’t even go home at night. Lu Siyi also knew about Gu Shisheng’s obsession with painting and didn’t disturb him when he was busy with work.

It took him a week to complete the final strokes, standing in place and looking at it. It seemed like something was missing.

He couldn’t figure out what this sense of deficiency was.

Gu Shisheng decided not to think about it, put down his brush, and left the studio. Only then did he realize that he didn’t know when it had gotten dark outside.

The gallery was quiet. Gu Shisheng went to the pantry and poured himself a cup of lukewarm water, planning to make do for the night.

Pushing open the office door, he immediately saw the young man lying on the sofa, already asleep.

The young man curled up, and upon hearing the movement, he opened his eyes in a daze. When he saw Gu Shisheng, his eyes widened with a starry glint. “Brother Gu, you’re done with your work.”

“Why aren’t you going home so late?”

Jiang Chaoxi didn’t want to go home. His old man had gotten really old, brought his lover back home, someone only twenty years older than Jiang Chaoxi, and even wanted Jiang Chaoxi to call him “mom.” Jiang Chaoxi found it disgusting and decided to run away from home.

Gu Shisheng didn’t need to know the details of such things; they could soften Gu Shisheng’s heart in a different way.

Lowering his head, Jiang Chaoxi shook it, “Not going back. My dad got me a stepmother and a new brother. Brother Gu, I’m not wanted anymore.”

He raised his head, teary-eyed, looking at Gu Shisheng pitifully.

“Don’t be sad. With someone as outstanding as you, many people will like you.” Gu Shisheng reached out and patted the young man’s head to comfort him.

Jiang Chaoxi took advantage of the situation and hugged Gu Shisheng’s waist.

Thin and soft, even the smell of Gu Shisheng lingered between his nose and lips. He looked up and saw Gu Shisheng’s slightly astonished but sympathetic gaze.

So easy to deceive! If he were to take advantage of the situation right now, wouldn’t it be possible? The passionate blood of youth, the images that flashed through his mind, were enough to excite him beyond control.

He didn’t realize that his face had turned red from his ears to his cheeks.

Frowning, Gu Shisheng reached to touch Jiang Chaoxi’s head. “Your face is so red. Are you getting a fever?”

Jiang Chaoxi’s mind hadn’t yet fully recovered from its confusion. He lifted his head, grabbed Gu Shisheng’s fingers, and put them in his mouth.

The delicate and cool sensation stimulated his brain. When their eyes met, Jiang Chaoxi completely woke up, hastily releasing Gu Shisheng’s hand and stepping back in a panic.

“I… I…”

Gu Shisheng silently looked down at his fingertips stained with saliva.

Then calmly wiped off the traces with a tissue, a gentle and gentle smile on his face. “Don’t overthink it. Anyway, no matter what, you’re still your dad’s son. Sleep well tonight; everything will be fine tomorrow.”

So obvious! Young people haven’t learned to hide the sincerity in their eyes. The gaze that looked over was filled with love, and for a moment, Gu Shisheng understood the joy of his husband.

This kind of freshly delivered young and lively affection was truly difficult not to be happy about.

Even he, in this short week, felt like he had returned to his youth.

After the initial panic, Jiang Chaoxi calmed down. He then sensed the warmth behind Gu Shisheng and panickedly reached out to grab the hand that was about to leave.

“Brother Gu, I like you.”

Gu Shisheng turned around, covering up the regret in his heart.

Apologizing with a hint of sadness, “Sorry, I’m married.”

“What… what did you say?” Jiang Chaoxi was shocked on the spot, looking at Gu Shisheng unbelievably.
